It was the summer of 1997 and some high school kids were awaiting their High School Passing Examinations’ result. They hung out together and discusses music, the common passion between them. The hang out soon turned itself into Jam sessions.

There began the jamming, the loud beats, screamin sound boxes, scratchy distortions, and of course the neighbors complaints. The boys landed themselves some gigs. But soon they are separated with each of them going ahead with their studies. There were three cousins in the band and for these three cousins, this was not the end of their music career. They went on to play for different shows associating themselves with bands in different places where they landed up for their studies.

In 2000, Kradle o’ Beats was formed but without a fixed drummer. They hired drummers to play for their recordings. Since its formation, the band has been working on composing originals and thus saw many a trips to the recording studios. Being college going students living in different places, these boys hardly had time to get themselves into the act for shows. The college vacations are spent in the studio.

The original ‘waiting’ recorded in mid 2004 was well appreciated by friends and well wishers. A rough video of it was shot. It was later edited for friends and fans and received airplay on Istv (local Imphal/Manipur channel) for about a month in the late 2005. Appreciations pouring in from different corners kept these boys working harder to make better songs. Another song ‘dont wanna fall in love’ was recorded in early 2005 with Paras (former Postmark drummer) on the drums.

In the early 2006, another cousin far younger than the rest joined the band. He had been learning to play the drums for the past few years. The band finally found its skins-man and thus making the band complete. The band is now planning for new recordings with the new drummer and also for an album that will be out by a year or two.

The final line up of the band is Bulo on vocals, Robby on guitars, Nanao on bass and Boomacha on drums.

The Influence:
As kids, these boys grew up with their father and uncles jamming in the house and playin concerts in the 80s. The guitarist Robby is the son of the legendary guitarist of Manipur, Late K. Subodh, who was one amongst those who pioneered western music playing in Manipur during the 70s. Late K. Subodh was the guitarist of the first Meitei rock band ‘Runaway Tracks’ many of whose members later metamorphosied into the first batch of the greatest Meitei rock band ever Phoenix. He also played a big role in composing the hit song ‘women’ of Phoenix during his days. Another uncle in the family also plays the drums so for the boys the first inspirations came from their uncles and father.

The boys of Kradle o’ Beat love songs and are influenced by music of Collective Soul, Dream Theatre, Van Halen, Queen, Extreme, Stone Temples Pilot, Alter Bridge and Pearl Jam.

A4apple is a trio sibling rock act from manipur(india). They began their musical journey with art rock and punk flavours, later combined it with power chords aggresive musical elements. Formed the band in the mid-summer of 2002, wanting more creative space and freedom, the band decided to write their own original signatures tunes, the result was the three track EP- Nowhere is Here. The EP got released somewhere in november,2005 where only 300 copies were pressed into the market as they worked within a limited budget. Strikingly original and lyrically passionate, A4apple is a band that narrates all the facets of life; tragedy, love, hope and uncertainty.

After a lot of line up changes the two founding members have settled in Nu Delhi and are ready to rock the scene with what they believe is true fucking metal.The band was restarted in 2006 after a long gap.The bands influences range for Megadeth,Metallica,Sepultura,Iron maiden,judas priest,Dream Theater and many more.Probably every other band which makes good music. AFTERDEATH was formed in June 2005. back then the metal scene in Hyderabad was heavily influenced by bands like slayer, sepultura,metallica and maiden. to create awareness of gothic/death/black metal among the metal crowd,AFTERDEATH started sowing the seeds of darkness and mayhem as the first gothic/black/death metal band in the city. Life is short lived-souls live forever which is AFTERDEATH. The band was brought together by 6 metal maniacs who had different tastes in metal. . however the band members had the dream of creating music based on the genre of gothic,black and death. True to their dream was the first own composition “SYMBOL OF ETERNITY” which defines life after death. Following was the next own comp,“FUNERAL FOG” which describes the consequences of war. “BEYOND THE DEAD WINTERS”,the third own comp. describes the dark side of human life. Though the band had done some gigs in colleges,Afterdeath got the major break in the “Campus Rock Idols-2005”,where we set the rock crowd wild. Head banging throughout the show the crowd hailed the band s name,which was a dream come true for Afterdeath.

JOSHISH is an Arabic-Persian word that means Junoon. The band members define JOSHISH as their zeal and passion for Music. JOSHISH depicts a lot of energy, excitement, earnestness, fervour and ardour.

HISTORY

It all started in March 2006, when Sameer Rahat, bassist of the band and also the DJ who’s been spinning the records since 3 years was hit by an idea to give new horizons to his passion for Music and he shared his idea with Shwetang Shankar.

Shwetang is exceptionally talented drummer and known to set the drums on fire and blood. Both of them joined hands with Pranjal Joshi, the keyboard player and initially who was the vocalist of the band. He has a magical control on the keys of synthesizer. And together they set forth looking for the best among the best to complete their band. Before they started their search for a guitarist, They recorded their first track using a cheap headphone with Pranjal performing Singing duties, Synth duties and Rhythm duties. Shwetang did the Guitar duties and Sameer helped with the musical arrangement and acted as a manager. Then they discovered Shatarchi Hundet(Kittu), the Lead Guitarist of JOSHISH, the rockstar of the band who has an amazing stage presence and electrifying impact on the crowd. Sameer’s friend Shubham Tiwari was eventually talked into taking up Lead Guitars for the Band’s 1^st ever concert and Kittu took bass duties for a short span of time.

And thus, they got the ball rolling and for the first time the band came into being. Their first exposure was when they performed at a famous Coffee Shop on 15^th May 2006 and they thus added new chapter in the Music Culture of the City of Lakes.

Asif Zaidi, the lead vocalist of JOSHISH, was a synthesizer player during his school days. He tried on singing when he entered college and it was then, he realized that he was made for singing. He performed at various places as a solo artist until he saw JOSHISH performing at Coffee Café , It was enough to convince Asif and subsequently he joined JOSHISH in their journey. He has a voice that appeals to one’s heart and keeps the crowd captivated for hours and hours.

Now the band was all set to rock the city. They soon got their much awaited chance when they got to host the Youth Fest ’06 held at Bittan Market,Bhopal and were honoured the Best Band by the BSM Academy.

But still after all this JOSHISH felt a void within. They needed a second guitarist and soon came in Amit Mishra, the Rhythm guitarist of the band who is awesome at vocals also. He holds the experience of 11 years on guitars and has been playing with Laxmikant-Pyarelal, Udit Narayan, Shaan, Kunal Ganjawala and other big names of the Indian Music Industry. This was the last ingredient they needed, which added an Indian Classical approach to Band’s Music. And after this there was no looking back.

When asked their genre, the band members say,”Just like Music we too are Universal. We are not limited to any particular Genre of Music. Instead we had always played the kind of Music what we had been listening to, and people want us to play.” The Band also play their own genre called “Cold Metal”.

Till now, JOSHISH has performed at various places like Youth Fest ’06(Bhopal), Felsenfall 2006-07(Bhopal),Rajiv Gandhi Technical University(Bhopal), Rai Foundation College(Bhopal),COBA Rock Addiction II, Hidayatullah National Law University (Raipur), IDA Grounds Indore, ITM College Gwalior, SSSITS(Sehore), Ravindra Bhawan(Bhopal), Doordarshan,Café Coffee Day and various College Festivals and Clubs.

Within a short span of time they have reached to new heights, from anonymity to amazing popularity. They excite and create the fuzz. Their music nourishes and has an oasis impact on the deserted minds. They have proved something that has been said over and over again for ages but has now found a new meaning

Seeing the popularity of “mCk” we are tempted to share, How the song actually came into being. Well, it was one of those usual evening at a Coffee Shop, with us having a casual jam session and amidst all this, Sameer abruptly started humming a tune so appealing that we decided to have some fun out of it. Keeping aside all the laws of lyric writing, we all wrote simply what we felt. Something very true and equally witty. And that’s how an unusual evening transformed into “mCk”. After that, everytime we met whether for a hangout or for a jam session, it all started and ended with “mCk”. As days passed, the song became a favourite among all our friends and came forth the demand for the recorded version of the song. We were compelled to record the song and once the song was recorded, we thought why not upload it on to the Internet, so that even others can check it out. Never did we realise that this song will become such a Big hit and would create controversies even across the border.

Ek is hindi rock band from Bangalore.

“Simplicity is the Ultimate sophistication” they say,and this is motto behind this Bangalore based band,named ‘Ek . The band was formed 8 months back by a bunch of 5 Bangalore techies,aspiring to explore the mystery behind the gods own creation,“Music”. The genre of the ‘Ek is primarily Hindi Rock,the orchestration mainly a western one (with a sweet acoustic sound) with a topping of Hindi lyrics and songs sung with a tinge of Indian classical music. Now,the band aims at composing some original music,a blend of energetic riffs and an Indian classical leads,with deep lyrics,and a soothing aura. The band has been sticking to performing covers in the first few shows,with some ‘Own Compositions under the belt which it plans to be presented soon.

A Saadhu clad in a white silver attire emerged out of thin air and said, “You guys are going to change the world. Hereby I christen you “EK” ….Sigh!… this never happened!!! . A bunch of guys got together, jammed and “jumped” to the conclusion that they will form a band. And that’s us, EK.

AAVEG was born in the mid of 2000 in the city of Nawabs. It’s a bond of five friends who share the common spirit to do something extraordinary in their lives. Hence they formed a rock band and decided to climb up the very altitude of music and touch the peak of perfection. They are quite successful as a rock band. They performed at various shows and participated in a number of competitions. Soon the band would achieve international recognition as they are invited to perform in the National Festival of Thailand in Bangkok. Members of AAVEG are from different walks of life and different professional aptitude. NAVNEET is a B Tech. graduate from Computer Science. SHAHEEM is having a business background and managing his Export Import business from China. TANMAY is pursuing B Com. and wants to be a CA but unfortunately diverted his mind and now wants to be a good musician. SAVIO pursuing B Com. And is also preparing for CDS. SUDHEER is a professional Audio Engineer in Mumbai. They do not aim to show their talents in commercial shows for mere publicity but want to pass on their musical instinct and talent as a legacy to the future generation. Currently they are involved in the plan to launch their own music album. In mere two to three years AAVEG has developed its roots in the music world and has established its own identity as a successful rock band and this could be easily be recognized from their loving and enthusiastic music followers and listeners. Joel:  Presently pursuing his graduation in mechanical engineering and thoughtful expertise in quite a few bands such as Sounds of The Nations and History Makers, Joel is probably the king of rhythm section in the trio.His influences include Dennis Chambers, Chad Smith, Dave Weckl and Mark Miller.

Benhur: Handling the guitar duties ,Ben is probably the most underrated guitar player in the city. A man of few words and many notes, with an immense “feel” in his playing and a quick adaptation to most genres, he brings in his flavor.

Behind this innocent and shy mask lies a positively violent human ever ready to fight the case of poverty.

Samson:  “Baba” to his peers! Plays the bass guitar and feels that he is an “OK” singer. His love for the bass guitar has regarded him as a decent bass player of the city, along the way he experimented with a microphone and that’s when things began to change in his musical career. As of now he’s trying to take his vocals and bass guitar to a place where they counter point each other.
